The Hollywood Reporter brought us the good news this week that Cash Cab has been picked up by the Discovery Channel and will be back on our screens this July! This is such great news, as Cash Cab is such a fun and original show. Ben Bailey returns as the show host, who drives around the streets of New York City, as a mini-van Taxi cab driver, picking up pedestrians looking for a ride. When they hop in and state their destination, a fun blast of music starts to play, along with flashing lights, and Bailey exclaims that they are on the show Cash Cab! They are given trivia questions worth escalating amounts, which they have to answer before the time is up. If they answer three questions incorrectly, their ride is up and they must get out (at least they got that far for free!), but if they get to their destination with two or less questions wrong, they get to keep the money they've won! And they even get to go for double or nothing in the final bonus round if they so choose. There are shoutouts they can use which include a street shoutout- asking a random person on the street for help, and the mobile shoutout- calling a friend or relative on your phone to ask for the answer.

The first episode will coincide with Discovery Channel's Shark Week, and its first episode will have a Shark Week theme. I love this show and have always dreamed of stepping into the cash cab one day when I visit New York! I'm so glad it's back! Any other Cash Cab fans out there?!
